Certified Dental Assisstant

Responsibilities

• The dental assistant assists dentist, set up equipment, and keeps records.

• Prepares patient, sterilize and disinfects instrument trays, prepares material and assists dentist during dental procedures.

• Takes and records medical and dental histories and vital signs of patients, records treatment information in patient records.

• Assists dentist in management of medical and dental emergencies. Exposes dental diagnostic x-rays.

• Applies protective coating of fluoride to teeth.

• Provide postoperative instruction prescribed by dentist.

• Makes preliminary impression for study casts.

• Pours, trims and polishes study casts.

• Cleans and polishes removable appliances.

• Clerical duties within the department.

Experience

• Minimum 1 year of related experience within last 3 years.

Education

• Must have completed an accredited school for Dental Assistants.

• Current BLS/CPR Required

Certification /License

• Licensed/registered dental assistant is required in some states.

• Certification or permit for use of dental x-ray equipment.

Schedule

• 35 hours per week
